About FIAT-IFTA
FIAT-IFTA fosters local and national funeral business and yet embraces globalization. It is the core business of our World Federation. Our Members – National Active or Associate – expect from us an international attitude and demand also our interest for local issues. The composition of the FIAT-IFTA Board assures this mindset based on the input we get from our Members. It is the challenge of our Federation to provide the right answers or at least to try to find them.
The idea of founding FIAT-IFTA, originated in the fall of 1969, in a little town near Paris. Originally three founders took the initiative, André F. Chatillon, Robert Lepine and Jacques Marette. On April 24th 1970, FIAT-IFTA was founded in Monaco with: President André Chatillon, First Vice President R. Lepine; Second Vice President J. Collaer, Secretary J. Marette and Treasurer E. Aubert.Model guidelines - ICCFA
The ICCFA Government and Legal Affairs Committee has developed a set of 28 model guidelines for state laws and regulations, which have been approved by the Board of Directors. The guidelines combine a sensitivity to consumer protection issues with the need for all industry members, whether for-profit or not-for-profit, cemeteries, funeral homes, retail monument dealers or crematories, to conduct their operations according to sound business principles.
Every two years, the FIAT-IFTA General Assembly meets. Members from all over the world attend the meetings. The attendees are presented with a program of interest and normally attend funeral homes, cemeteries etc. in the country that hosts the Conference. The members of the Board have their Board meeting and all Members can attend the General Assembly. There is also ample opportunity to meet each other socially.
